We’ve Still Got A Few MinutesSound Installation in Claremorris train station and Drogheda train station. A sound work was created, using an audio sample from the film “Brief Encounter” (1945) by David Lean in which two people involved in an extramarital affair share their last moments together in a train station cafe. This piece was timed with train departures from the station. As we walked through the station I remember thinking, “this is the last time with Alec”. “I shall see all this again, but without Alec”. I tried not to think of it, not to let it spoil our last moments together.
Alec: Are you alright darling? Alec: I wish I could think of something to say Alec: I’ll miss my train and wait to see you to… Alec: Very well Alec: I don’t know. Not for years anyway Alec: Couldn’t I write to you? Just once in a while? Alec: Alright dear. I do love you so very much. I love you with all my heart and soul Alec: If you died, you’d forget me, and I want to be remembered Alec: We’ve still got a few minutes | ![]() We've still got a few minutes (2007) |
